What is the internet?

I have actually found this topic interesting, although if I'm honest I don't quite get how it all fits together as such yet. I'm hoping after next weeks 'What is the World Wide Web', I will be able to distinguish between the two a little better.

Who knew the internet had been around for 40 plus years, and after listening to Tama's lecture, what amazing foresight the founders of the internet had. The video of packet switching and the activities this week were also very informative.

I am sure the founders of the internet in their time were thought of as 'radical' and even laughed at - who is laughing now. It makes me think that perhaps we should be listening a little more carefully to those in today's world we label as 'radical' or 'before their time'. A quick search on google turns up more than enough future technology, maybe in the not too distant future the items in Mary Bellis' Top Ten Inventions Needed will be a reality.

All in all so far so good and with my ankle operation coming up I had better start looking towards getting my first assignment underway. I really need to have a good look at the APA referencing to make sure I get that right.

Cheers for now.
